Early Days in FELDA Serting

Dear me..

today i have a chit chat with my lovely wife about my early days in FELDA.. it was drizzled today.. really fresh my memories again on my good old days during the early settlement..

1. My father became into a FELDA Settler in early 1983 ( if i am not mistaken, i was 5 years old at that time)..

2. I remember I saw only jungle and dusty red gravel road..

3. I remember there were only 3 houses with families.. the rest are vacant, waiting for the new settler to come in..

4. I remember our house was surrounded by only bushes.. really like a cowboy town..

This is not my house, but almost look 100% the same.. btw.. all FELDA house look the same during the early days...

5. There was no electricity and clean water till i reached 10 years old..

6. Every morning at 4.30am -5.00am, my brother (Abang Jai), my sister (Kak Nam) and myself have to wake up early to able us to take bath early at the well.. a bit distance from our house.. then 6.15am i will walk out from my house to the primary school.. about 2 kilometres walking distance.. by 7am.. i will reached the school.. from my house via red gravel roads.. swampy and scary area..

7. During the early days.. after few years in Felda Settlement before the TNB.. one of our neighbour bought one big vessel's engine.. putting wires and lights to all the nearby houses.. and start to light up our house with electricity.. normally started at 6pm- 10pm.. if it have an extra fuel.. then might extended to 12 midnight.. my abah paid RM15 permonth.. I told my wife.. everyday at 7pm.. we can see all our neighbours like myself and my brothers will be stunt in front of our "serambi" and waited for the engine to light up our night.. ahh.. the feeling that only we know..

8. I told my wife.. for water.. we have to really queue for the clean water (not that really clean laaa.. you still can taste the mud).. it is really tiring when emak ask me to fill up all the gallons everyday after the tiring schoold days..

9. After my shoold days.. normally abah will bring me to palm oil farm.. my job is "susun pelepah" and "pungut biji sawit".. its really tiring works and the whole body will be so painful.. but on the way back all the tireness gone when abah blanja me carbonated drink (we called it oren bodoh coz it looks really bodo ones.. hahahah) and mee goreng at Simpang Keratong...

what a good old days......................................... miss them!
